Low-voltage prewire cabling in a framed home

If you build homes, you've had the low-voltage sub who shows up late, leaves a mess of wire and disappears before closing. Your buyer calls you when the Wi-Fi doesn't work. Not them.

We've been doing this for builders since 2010. Here's how we run a job, so you know what good looks like, whether you hire us or not.

1. The job comes in two stages

When we get your plans, we start with a prewire proposal. That covers the wire in the walls, and it's what you build to.

Later comes the electronics and installation proposal: the TVs, speakers, Wi-Fi and cameras that go on the ends of that wire.

Doing it in that order means the prewire gets locked in on schedule, even if the buyer is still deciding whether they want a theater.

2. A walkthrough or a standard package. Your call.

On a custom home, we walk the house with the buyer and lock down every TV, speaker, access point and camera before we pull a wire.

On spec homes, we keep it simple. A standard package that covers what buyers expect: Wi-Fi, TVs, Sonos-ready rooms and Ring-ready doors. No decisions needed from you.

3. We work your schedule

Rough-in happens after electrical. Trim happens before move-in. Schedules move, and we move with them. You shouldn't have to chase us.

4. Every wire, photographed and documented

Before drywall, we photograph and document every wire location and send it to you. Access points, speakers, cameras, door contacts, TV boxes at outlet height and wall-mount height. When the drywall crew covers something or a buyer wants a change later, you'll know exactly where it is.

5. The buyer actually learns the system

After closing, we walk the homeowner through everything. How the Wi-Fi works, how the music works, how the cameras work. Then we stick around for support. That's a call you don't get.

Why we keep it simple

I'm always looking for less electronics in an install. Fewer boxes means fewer things to go wrong, and fewer warranty calls for you. We put in the brands we'd put in our own homes: eero, Sonos, Ring, Lutron. Here's why a "wireless" home still needs wires, and our take on which Ring cameras to hardwire.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Scheduling, proposals, documentation and where we work.

When does low-voltage rough-in happen?
After electrical rough-in and before insulation and drywall. Trim-out happens near the end, before the buyer moves in.
How is a low-voltage job proposed?
In two stages. First a prewire proposal for the wiring, then an electronics and installation proposal for the equipment.
Do you document wire locations?
Yes. We photograph and document every wire location before drywall and share it with the builder.
Do you work spec homes and custom homes?
Both. Custom homes get a design walkthrough with the buyer. Spec homes get a standard package.
Do you serve North Georgia and Western NC?
Yes. Ryan runs our Rabun County office for Northeast Georgia and Western North Carolina.

Type of work
Project photos (optional, but they help a lot)

Photos help us a lot. If you want the fastest, most accurate quote, send photos of the spaces or equipment you're asking about: the room, the wall where the TV goes, your current rack or router, the outside of the house.

Up to 15 photos, 25 MB each. iPhone (HEIC) photos are fine.

    Floor plans (optional)

If you have floor plans, send them. Plans let us do much more, and they often give us a near-instant idea of scope. Large files are fine.
