Built for a House That Sits Quiet

Home automation in Highlands is not a wall of buttons. It is a short set of scenes for the nights you are there, and a short set of alerts for the weeks you are not. Lutron handles the lights. Sonos handles the music. Ring handles the doors and the cameras. We will tell you if a house needs more than that.

Lots on the plateau are steep and wooded, and a guest cottage is often not next to the main house. The design has to include that gap, or the cottage is a dead zone the first weekend someone sleeps there.

Weather

Humidity, Freezes, and an Empty House

Summers up here are damp and winters are cold. Outdoor speakers and landscape lighting have to be specified for both. The equipment rack belongs in a dry, conditioned closet. An unheated crawl space that swings with the weather is where gear fails in February, which is exactly when nobody is around to notice.

Leak and freeze sensors are part of the job on a second home, not an extra we mention after the quote. If a pipe lets go, you want the alert that week, not the smell on the next trip.

How we work

What We Install, and What We Will Not Pretend

Lighting is on the Highlands lighting page. Theaters are on the theater page. Wi-Fi, shades, audio and cameras are spelled out on the Highlands overview. Licensed in Georgia (LVT305289) and North Carolina (SP.FA/LV.37584).

Ryan runs this work from the North Georgia team. Call (706) 982-3327. If you also have a house at Lake Burton or in Cashiers, we can set the controls up the same way so you are not learning two systems.

FAQs

Questions from Highlands, NC Homeowners

Licensed in Georgia (LVT305289) and North Carolina (SP.FA/LV.37584). Highlands overview · Theaters · Lighting · Cashiers

Do you install home automation in Highlands, NC?
Yes. We design and install home automation for mountain and second homes in Highlands: Lutron lighting, networking, cameras, theaters and outdoor audio.
What should keep working when the house is empty?
Cameras, a doorbell, and leak, temperature and power sensors should reach your phone. The network should be something we can check remotely. Lighting scenes should still make sense when you arrive after dark.
How do steep, wooded lots change the network?
We plan a wired backbone and access points for the whole property. A point-to-point link reaches a guest cottage or garage when trenching through rock and roots is a bad idea. Starlink is the usual feed where cable stops up the driveway.
Who do I call?
Call Ryan at (706) 982-3327, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

Type of work
Project photos (optional, but they help a lot)

Photos help us a lot. If you want the fastest, most accurate quote, send photos of the spaces or equipment you're asking about: the room, the wall where the TV goes, your current rack or router, the outside of the house.

Up to 15 photos, 25 MB each. iPhone (HEIC) photos are fine.

    Floor plans (optional)

If you have floor plans, send them. Plans let us do much more, and they often give us a near-instant idea of scope. Large files are fine.
