The room

Rainy Days Are the Use Case

People picture a Highlands house on the porch. A lot of the actual hours are indoors, in weather that has settled in for the day. That is the room we are designing: a dedicated theater if you want to give a room to it, or a media room if the space still has to work as a living room the rest of the time.

Sony projectors and displays are what we put in front of clients. Seating is part of the conversation, not an afterthought once the screen is on the wall. The quote comes after we see the room.

The house

Stone, Timber, and Glass

A lot of these houses are stone and timber with glass facing the view. A projector needs the light under control, which is why shades and Lutron lighting are part of the theater plan. See lighting control in Highlands if the glass is the real problem and the theater is not.

In new construction we run speaker and screen wire before drywall, including a path that does not fight the stone. In a finished house we use attics and closets and we say so when a wireless speaker is the honest answer.

After you leave

It Has to Wake Up in the Spring

The system sits for weeks. It has to come back without a service call every time you open the house. We keep the control simple on purpose. One remote a guest can use beats a rack you are afraid to touch. Licensed in Georgia (LVT305289) and North Carolina (SP.FA/LV.37584). Call (706) 982-3327.

FAQs

Questions from Highlands, NC Homeowners

Highlands overview · Home automation · Lighting · Theater design

Do you install home theaters in Highlands, NC?
Yes. We design and install dedicated theaters and media rooms in Highlands. The project is custom quoted after we walk the house. We do not publish a price range.
Where does the equipment go?
In a dry, conditioned closet. Highlands houses deal with damp summers and cold winters, and many sit empty. An unheated crawl space is a bad place for a rack.
Is a TV mount the same thing?
No. A straightforward TV installation is a service call at $149 an hour plus a $50 trip charge, and a typical mount takes one to two hours. A theater or a media room is a larger, custom-quoted project.
Who do I call?
Call Ryan at (706) 982-3327, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

Type of work
Project photos (optional, but they help a lot)

Photos help us a lot. If you want the fastest, most accurate quote, send photos of the spaces or equipment you're asking about: the room, the wall where the TV goes, your current rack or router, the outside of the house.

Up to 15 photos, 25 MB each. iPhone (HEIC) photos are fine.

    Floor plans (optional)

If you have floor plans, send them. Plans let us do much more, and they often give us a near-instant idea of scope. Large files are fine.
