What Drives Home Theater Cost

We do not publish a theater price. These are the things that change the quote after we see the room. Call (404) 590-7685.

A home theater quote moves because the room moves. SoulCraft Systems writes the number after a visit, as a line-item proposal. This page is the list of factors. It is not a price sheet. How service calls are billed, which is a different kind of work, is on how we price.

Dedicated room or shared room

A dedicated theater is given over to the screen: light control, seating, acoustic treatment, a closet for the rack. A media room still has to be a living room. The second one is usually simpler. Pretending they are the same scope is how budgets get surprised. See theaters and media rooms.

New construction or a finished house

Open walls mean speaker wire, screen power, and conduit go in before drywall. A finished house means fishing, patching, and sometimes a wireless speaker where the wall should not be opened. That difference is one of the largest factors, and it is about labor and access, not a gadget.

Screen, speakers, and the seats

A TV and a projector are different projects. Speaker count changes with the room, from a soundbar-sized idea up to speakers in the ceiling and behind the seats. Seating distance decides how big the picture should be. We do not start with a screen size and hope the sofa fits.

Light and the rack

Windows, especially toward water or a west yard, force shades or a different screen. The rack needs power, air, and a place that is not a damp crawl space. Lighting scenes for the room tie into Lutron lighting.

What is not this quote

Hanging a TV and hiding the cable is a service call. A typical mount takes one to two hours at $149 an hour plus a $50 trip charge. See TV mounting. That visit is not a theater.

FAQs

Theater scope questions

Why won't you list a starting price?
The room, the screen, the speakers, and whether the walls are open change the job too much for a published range to be honest. You get a written quote after we look.
Does a media room cost the same kind of project as a dedicated theater?
No. A media room shares the space with daily life. A dedicated room is built around the picture and the seats. We scope them as different projects.
Is a TV mount billed like a theater?
No. A straightforward TV installation is a service call at $149 an hour plus a $50 trip charge, typically one to two hours.
Who do I call in Atlanta?
(404) 590-7685, Mon–Fri 9 AM–5 PM. Lake and mountain theaters go to (706) 982-3327.

Type of work
Project photos (optional, but they help a lot)

Photos help us a lot. If you want the fastest, most accurate quote, send photos of the spaces or equipment you're asking about: the room, the wall where the TV goes, your current rack or router, the outside of the house.

Up to 15 photos, 25 MB each. iPhone (HEIC) photos are fine.

    Floor plans (optional)

If you have floor plans, send them. Plans let us do much more, and they often give us a near-instant idea of scope. Large files are fine.
