Highlands

The plateau is hard on a single router

Highlands houses sit on rock, under trees, often with the garage or a guest cottage well below the main floor. Cable internet makes it up some driveways and stops at others. SoulCraft Systems designs the network for that lot, then leaves you a way to see it from somewhere else. North Carolina low-voltage license SP.FA/LV.37584. Georgia license LVT305289. Call (706) 982-3327.

Horse Cove, Mirror Lake, Satulah, the streets off Main, Cullasaja, and the houses toward Whiteside do not share one floor plan, but they share the same failure: the router is in a closet on the main floor and the bedroom wing is a rumor. We run a wired backbone and put access points where the rooms are. A point-to-point link reaches a cottage when a trench through rock is the wrong tool. Starlink is the feed when cable does not come up the drive.

Remote checks, not a second hobby

Network Care is remote monitoring and remote login help for the network: $24.99 a month for a home, $49.99 a month for a business. It is how we look at a Highlands house between your trips. A straightforward Wi-Fi refresh, when the cable is already in the walls, takes two to four hours at $149 an hour plus a $50 trip charge. Members get 10% off labor. New cable, Starlink, or a link to another building is quoted from the site walk.

The general page is networking and Wi-Fi. The Highlands overview is Highlands home automation. Cashiers is a different valley: Cashiers networking. The longer note on lake Wi-Fi, which overlaps this work, is lake house Wi-Fi. Mountain systems beyond the network are on mountain home automation.

FAQs

Highlands network questions

What if cable stops partway up the driveway?
Starlink is the usual feed. The Wi-Fi plan inside the house is separate from how the internet arrives.
Can you reach a guest cottage on rock?
Yes. Cable if a trench is reasonable, and a point-to-point link when the rock says no.
What does a simple Wi-Fi visit cost?
When the cable is already in the walls, a refresh is typically two to four hours at $149 an hour plus a $50 trip charge. Network Care is $24.99 a month for a home. New cable is quoted.

FAQs

Questions from Highlands, NC Homeowners

Highlands overview · Home automation · Lighting · Theater design

Do you install home theaters in Highlands, NC?
Yes. We design and install dedicated theaters and media rooms in Highlands. The project is custom quoted after we walk the house. We do not publish a price range.
Where does the equipment go?
In a dry, conditioned closet. Highlands houses deal with damp summers and cold winters, and many sit empty. An unheated crawl space is a bad place for a rack.
Is a TV mount the same thing?
No. A straightforward TV installation is a service call at $149 an hour plus a $50 trip charge, and a typical mount takes one to two hours. A theater or a media room is a larger, custom-quoted project.
Who do I call?
Call Ryan at (706) 982-3327, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

Type of work
Project photos (optional, but they help a lot)

Photos help us a lot. If you want the fastest, most accurate quote, send photos of the spaces or equipment you're asking about: the room, the wall where the TV goes, your current rack or router, the outside of the house.

Up to 15 photos, 25 MB each. iPhone (HEIC) photos are fine.

    Floor plans (optional)

If you have floor plans, send them. Plans let us do much more, and they often give us a near-instant idea of scope. Large files are fine.
