Lake Rabun

Arrival and departure matter more than a dozen scenes

A Lake Rabun house is empty, then it is full, then it is empty again. The lighting that gets used is the path from the car, the porch, the kitchen while people unload, and an all-off that you trust when you lock the door. A page of scene names nobody remembers is how these systems get abandoned. SoulCraft Systems designs that short list on Lutron. Licensed in Georgia (LVT305289) and North Carolina (SP.FA/LV.37584). Call (706) 982-3327.

Older cottages along the lake usually keep their walls. Battery-powered shades and dimmers that replace the switches you have are the right tools. A full rebuild can take wired shade power and RadioRA 3, with keypads at the doors you actually use. Caséta is enough when the project is a few rooms. See Caséta versus RadioRA 3 and lighting and shades.

Living room with warm lighting and window treatments

Glass toward the cove

West and south glass faces the water and the afternoon. Shades cut the glare so the room is usable, and they give you privacy when a boat is in the cove. The longer note is motorized shades for lake homes. Atlanta shade options, which are a different housing stock, are on motorized shades in Atlanta.

We do not publish a price for a shade or lighting project. It depends on how many windows, whether the walls are open, and whether the system is a few rooms or the whole house.

Rabun versus Burton

Lake Burton lighting is often a larger house with a long walk to the dock. That page is Lutron on Lake Burton. Lake Rabun is tighter coves, more original cottages, and more retrofits. Lakemont sits between the lakes: Lakemont. The Rabun overview is Lake Rabun home automation.

If the lights are part of a theater room, see Lake Rabun home theater. A real Buckhead lighting job, so you can see the hardware, is the keypad upgrade.

FAQs

Lake Rabun lighting questions

Can you add Lutron to an older cottage?
Yes. Dimmers usually replace the switches you have. Shades in a finished cottage are typically battery-powered so we are not opening old walls.
How many scenes do you program?
A short list: arrival, evening, and all-off when you leave. A long menu is how these systems get ignored.
Do you list a lighting price?
No. It depends on the room count, the shades, and whether the walls are open.
Who do I call?

FAQs

Questions from Highlands, NC Homeowners

Highlands overview · Home automation · Lighting · Theater design

Do you install home theaters in Highlands, NC?
Yes. We design and install dedicated theaters and media rooms in Highlands. The project is custom quoted after we walk the house. We do not publish a price range.
Where does the equipment go?
In a dry, conditioned closet. Highlands houses deal with damp summers and cold winters, and many sit empty. An unheated crawl space is a bad place for a rack.
Is a TV mount the same thing?
No. A straightforward TV installation is a service call at $149 an hour plus a $50 trip charge, and a typical mount takes one to two hours. A theater or a media room is a larger, custom-quoted project.
Who do I call?
Call Ryan at (706) 982-3327, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

Add project details (optional)
Type of work
Project photos (optional, but they help a lot)

Photos help us a lot. If you want the fastest, most accurate quote, send photos of the spaces or equipment you're asking about: the room, the wall where the TV goes, your current rack or router, the outside of the house.

Up to 15 photos, 25 MB each. iPhone (HEIC) photos are fine.

    Floor plans (optional)

If you have floor plans, send them. Plans let us do much more, and they often give us a near-instant idea of scope. Large files are fine.
